Having fun at the dairy! More pictures to come!

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

We've done it!  4th graders have read 302 books!!!  WOW!!!!!!!
I'm so very proud of our students!

In English, we have finished up our noun unit and have begun working with verbs. In Reading class, we are working on our novel studies.  This week we have focused on main idea and character traits.

Don't forget that Friday is picture day, along with our field trip to the Dairy Research and Education Center (Dairy Experiment Station).  We will take our pictures first thing in the morning, then your child will be able to change their shirt into a school shirt before leaving school.  Be sure to pack the school shirt in their backpack!  We will be attending the trip rain or shine (unless severe weather), so be prepared!  :)

Visit this link to see the helping verb song that we learned today!

Book project

Parents and Guardians-
Your child will be bringing home a letter and rubric outlining their Reading project that they will need to complete for class.  This is an opportunity for your child to share their favorite book (on an appropriate level) with their classmates.
Here are several example pictures:
The sides of the cereal box

The back of the box

The front of the box.

Please do not hesitate to call or email with any questions!  :)

Just a few reminders:
Open House for Grandparents is Monday, September 10th.  Your children can come and show their grandparents around our classroom and then enjoy a treat in the cafeteria!
